In a previous life -- before I went all rogue in the media world -- I cut my creative teeth as a reporter, producer and talk-show host at KJFF-AM radio in my hometown of Festus, Mo. From there, I moved into newspaper, reporting serious news, creating entertaining features and contributing editorials for publications such as the West End Word, the Suburban Journals and the Leader, among others.
I'm proud to have been working steadily as a freelance writer and editor for more than a decade now as L'Attitude Editorial. Over the years, I've provided writing and editing as a contributor to prestigious publications such as Sauce, Feast, St. Louis Homes & Lifestyles and ALIVE magazines, as well as professional blogs and marketing materials for self-publishing authors through Outskirts Press.
Of course, I do a lot of great work behind the scenes, too. I've provided businesses with corporate communications and stylebooks, SEO and landing pages, marketing copy and colorful web copy to help them attract and keep site traffic. And as a ghostwriter, I've helped other aspiring authors realize their dreams of publication. (Some of these books have even won awards.) Creating lauded works for others inspired me to stop just planning my own books and finally finish some! You can learn more about them (in various stages of completion) in my Bookstore and my blog.
You should know that I'm also a dedicated amateur foodie and oenophile who loves to ramble about random deliciousness. You'll find more of that at The Motley Food. And, like my lovely protagonist, Bobbi Lane, I'm a musician with a long history in local rock 'n' roll bands. Although I'm in between gigs, this passion for music features prominently in my writing. And you'd better believe I'm known to tear it up on karaoke night (just try to drag me out of there before closing time!).
I live in lil' ol' Hematite, Mo., with my husband, Enzo, and our four fur-babies, Butters, Tweak, Brody and the irrepressible Tilly. They make all of these joys even sweeter ...
